"Self-detonation" is frequent on high temperature days! How to avoid the "explosion" of glass heat at home?

Recently, the high temperature weather has intensified, with extreme high temperatures in Henan, Shaanxi and other places, with temperatures exceeding 40°C in some areas.

The dog days have not yet arrived, and many friends are already tossing and turning. The scorching heat is also a "baking" test for "glass".

"It's so hot, the glass is broken"

At about 10 a.m. on July 15, Mr. Tian from Zhengzhou found that the inner glass of the window in his bathroom was cracked into a spider web. He said that at that time, the indoor air conditioner was turned on to about 27°C, but the bathroom window faced east and was basking in the sun.

"I didn't hear any sound, and it cracked from the inside, it shouldn't be an external blow, it was probably caused by the weather being too hot.

In hot weather

Glass bursting incidents occur from time to time

Recently, all over the country

There have been many similar incidents

A staff member engaged in glass installation said that the self-explosion of glass has increased in the past two months, and he has replaced 60 pieces of glass, an average of one piece a day.

Why does tempered glass burst?

According to relevant people in the industry, tempered glass "comes with" a 3/1,000 probability of self-detonation when it leaves the factory.

The glass itself has fine crystalline impurities. When the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor is large, the physical phenomenon of thermal expansion and contraction will occur, which may cause self-detonation. Glass self-explosion generally occurs frequently from May to October every year, and the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor temperatures is large in high temperatures, and glass is more prone to self-detonation.

One of the causes of tempered glass bursting is related to the chemical "nickel sulfide" present in the glass.

After the glass is installed, it is exposed to natural temperatures, and the nickel sulfide contained inside it is still slowly changing from liquid to solid. Changes in the external environment, such as the large temperature difference between indoor and outdoor temperatures in summer, can lead to a larger volume of nickel sulfide. Once the volume expands to 20%-40%, it will destroy the structure of the tempered glass and cause self-explosion.

Which case

Is glass bursting?

High temperatures followed by torrential rains

Glass bursts in high-rise buildings, mainly in the summer. When there is a heavy rain after high temperature or the indoor air conditioner is turned on, the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor is large, it is easy to cause the glass to burst.

Glass lasts a long time

Glass bursting is related to the age of glass. The doors and windows of residential doors and windows will also be exposed to wind and sun for a long time, and their brittleness will also be exacerbated, and the glass hardness will easily cause self-explosion after the hardness is reduced.

The glass area is large

Large glass is more prone to bursting, such as the glass of floor-to-ceiling windows.

Single glazing

Compared with double-layer vacuum tempered glass, single-layer glass is more prone to bursting due to expansion when encountering high temperatures.

How to prevent glass from bursting?

Don't install it too tightly

The metal frame of the embedded glass is likely to burst the glass after thermal expansion and contraction, so it should not be packed too tightly when installing the glass, and the rubber rubber with good elasticity should be used in the frame.

The temperature difference is too great

In the hot weather in summer, when the indoor air conditioner is turned on, try to control the indoor air conditioning temperature above 26 °C to avoid the glass bursting caused by too large temperature difference between indoor and outdoor.

Overhaul should be timely

Strengthen the daily inspection of window glass and glass curtain wall to detect microscopic cracks, increased bubbles in the glass, mildew or aging of the glass, should be repaired or replaced in a timely manner.

If you are accidentally cut by broken glass, you must first stop the bleeding sufficiently, check the wound for foreign body residues, and then rinse it with normal saline or running water。 If the foreign body is difficult to remove, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly.

For the cause of the glass itself

The self-detonation caused by it is difficult to avoid

The human factor needs to be noted
