2025 Curtain Wall Design Competition [Project Exhibition] Frost - Greentown • Chaoming Oriental

Greentown Chaoming Oriental is located in the core plate of Shanghai's Xuhui Riverside, only 400 meters away from the banks of the Huangpu River, and is the "No. 1 work" of the 30th anniversary of the founding of Greentown China. The project has a total construction area of about 57,000 square meters and is positioned as a "living community" that integrates the concepts of "high value, extremely virtuous, and smartest" and "low-carbon, full-cycle, and human health".

Located at the intersection of the West Bund Art Corridor and the Digital Valley, the design takes "river and tide symbiosis" as the core, and deconstructs the flowing image of the Huangpu River into the fluid geometric language of the building. The façade features a stone base, metal lines and champagne-colored aluminum panels, combined with innovative 270° ring glass and curved corners to create an art form like a "floating crystal cabin". Multi-functional scenarios such as suspension swimming pools and Chunzhi School are planned in the community, redefining the high-quality waterfront life model.

As a blueprint landing project of Greentown's "good house" standard, Chaoming Oriental has not only become a new landmark on the West Bank aesthetically through the all-round innovation of the curtain wall system, but also established a new model of green, healthy and intelligent "near-zero energy consumption" housing at the technical level, showing the forward-looking thinking of future living.

Self-evaluation of curtain wall design project characteristics, application characteristics and economy

The curtain wall design of this project aims to reshape the high-quality living paradigm of Xuhui Riverside. The design draws inspiration from the "tidal rhythm" of the Huangpu River and realizes the integration of oriental aesthetics and modern high-tech through systematic innovation.

The application of an integral window frame system eliminates traditional stitching and creates the ultimate purity of the façade texture. The customized external flat window system jointly developed with imported manufacturers perfectly solves the problem of horizontal extension of special shaped windows while ensuring indoor transparent visibility and surrounding ventilation. The high-performance three-glass two-chamber ultra-white glass system combines with central shading to integrate excellent thermal insulation, thermal insulation, noise reduction and safety performance, laying the foundation for achieving the goal of "near-zero energy consumption". In terms of details, through the integrated design of column ceilings, extremely narrow glue seam control, profile integrated drip line and other refined processes, the perfect balance between visual purity and process complexity has been achieved.

In terms of economy, although it adheres to a high standard configuration in key performance areas (such as glass systems), the overall cost is effectively controlled through modular design and the application of standardized interlayer lines. The innovative "outer arc aluminum plate + inner rectangular window" composite structure reduces construction complexity and cost while achieving smooth arc corners. These designs improve building quality and durability at the source, significantly reduce maintenance costs and achieve long-term economic benefits.
