The intersection of historical heritage and modern innovation

Mexico's glass manufacturing industry has a long history of almost 500 years. In 1542, Spanish entrepreneurs built the country's first glass furnace in the Puebla region, producing glass products that were exported to Guatemala and Peru in 1547, establishing Mexico as the birthplace of the glass industry in Latin America. Today, this traditional industry is being reborn. According to the Mexican Ministry of Economy, the glass industry has become one of the fastest-growing manufacturing sectors in the country, especially after a strong post-pandemic recovery, and production has returned to pre-pandemic levels.

Industry status: fragmentation and regional synergy

The structure of the glass industry in Mexico has changed significantly in recent years. According to the statistical catalogue of Mexico's national economic units, there are more than 980 glass companies in the country, of which the proportion of small factories has increased rapidly, breaking the monopoly pattern of large enterprises. This trend of "fragmentation" has reduced the cost of the industrial chain and enhanced market vitality. The main production centers are concentrated in the states of Mexico, Jalisco and Puebla, while the city of Monterrey continues to lead the northeast with strong demand from the beer, automotive and construction industries.

The organizers of the exhibition said that this year's special "Regional Industry Forum" will invite business representatives from Monterrey, Puebla and other places to share their regional cooperation experiences and discuss how to deal with international competition through technology sharing and resource integration. In addition, the "B2B matchmaking meeting" for small and medium-sized enterprises will help local manufacturers connect with the global supply chain.

The number of Chinese exhibitors accounted for nearly half of the total

As Mexico's second largest trading partner, the number of Chinese exhibitors has increased compared to the previous edition, accounting for about 50% of the total number of exhibitors this time. "Mexico is a strategic hub connecting North America and Latin America, and we hope to deepen localization cooperation and actively explore the Latin American market through the exhibition," said the head of the China Pavilion.

The Mexican Glass Exhibition will last until July 18, and we look forward to all exhibitors and visitors gaining a lot, and China Glass Cross-border will continue to report for you.
